Workshops
Stronger Teams Start Here
All our workshops are interactive. We believe that every participant brings wisdom and experience to the table and always adds to the conversation. Workshops are designed to engage the senses and provide participants with tools and techniques to practice during and after the workshop. Participants often come back for more.
Too often, community leaders experience burn-out and are uncertain as to how to truly relax and/or re-energize their spirit. This workshop is specifically designed for nonprofit and community leaders. Its focus is on how to deal with stress, and how to calm the mind and body. The original workshop title was “The Calm during the Storm”. The interactive workshop includes simplified Tai Chi techniques, exploration of the senses, meditation, some Zen practices, art, creativity exercises, humor and a labyrinth walk. The workshop provides various tools and techniques to practice during and after the workshop.
This interactive workshop is designed to awaken the artist within. You will learn about stress, distress and self-care while also engaging in a variety of creative activities intended to engage the mind and calm the body. While art and the creative process are at the heart of this workshop, several activities will focus on mindfulness and techniques on calming the body. Beginning with awareness and intentionality, you will learn breathing techniques and strategies while also learning how art can be good for the mind, body and heart. Be ready for some fun entertaining craft-making, painting, and tapping the creative side of your brain. You will walk away with art in your hand and calm in your body.

It is an interactive experience that includes simplified Tai Chi techniques, exploration of the senses, meditation, some Zen practices, art, creativity exercises, humor and a labyrinth walk. A Creative Journal is not your typical journal. And the workshop is not typical either. Participants will create a journal with craft ideas, art and imagination. The workshop is designed for anyone and everyone regardless of age. All materials will be provided to help participants imagine and create a unique journal. The workshop will teach participants how to create personalized, handmade journal for fun or a specific purpose. Participants will have a relaxed environment, guided instruction, creative prompts, and a supply of all materials needed to design covers, collage, distress papers and fabrics, and bind your unique journal. Benefits include stress reduction, self-expression, and learning new paper-crafting techniques. Our next workshop is June 13, 2026.
“What would you do if you only had 30 days?” is both a question and workshop. This interactive workshop is not about death; but rather how to maximize life in a short period of time. It is a fun workshop filled with brainstorming and imagination for what one would do if you only had 30 days. The presenter asked himself this very question 30 days before major surgery and wrote a book. Imagine what you could do in 30 days. Participants will brainstorm, write, draw, explore, dream and create.
In this 3 hour interactive workshop you will learn multiple breathing techniques that: Increase your stress resilience and renew your energy. The breathing 4 Life workshop, also known as a breathwork or pranayama workshop, teaches methods to control your breath to influence your body and mind, offering benefits like stress reduction, improved focus, and increased energy. Techniques covered will include diaphragmatic (belly) breathing, box breathing and 4-7-8 breathing techniques.

"True to its name, the Desert Rain workshops are like curling up on the couch with a good book on a rainy thunderous day! While the societal, political storm rages outside, coming inside to take a respite, Create art, enjoy nurturing time with old and new friends, and Reset - truly is just Good Medicine. I wholeheartedly recommend Calm Impact's DR art & meditation workshops!"

"The Calm Impact Reflective Leadership program was the next step I needed in my career. I was given the opportunity to lead as the executive director of a non-profit organization that I helped establish from the ground up. I left a job where I learned so much, but the daily stress became unhealthy. Work-life balance and self-care were frequent topics of conversation, but I wasn't quite sure what they would look like for me. As I attended the group sessions and participated in discussions, I learned so much. I now feel more confident in my work and no longer guilty about saying "no" when needed. I have embraced my morning routine, scheduled time for myself, and have been more active in pursuing activities that bring me joy."

"Participating in the 2-day Desert Rain Retreat was a transformative experience that deepened my capacity to lead with presence, compassion, and renewed clarity. The retreat offered a rare and intentional pause from the everyday demands of nonprofit leadership, creating space to reconnect with my inner landscape and reflect on my purpose as a changemaker. Over the two days, I was able to slow down, listen inwardly, and engage in practices that strengthened my capacity for presence, clarity, and compassionate leadership. The intentional blend of reflective exercises, shared learning, and restorative practices reminded me that sustainable impact isn’t just about strategy—it’s about nourishing our inner resources so we can show up for others with greater intention and groundedness. Equally powerful were the beautiful relationships formed within the cohort—connections grounded in vulnerability, shared purpose, and collective care that will extend far beyond the retreat. The retreat did not just restore energy — it equipped me with insights and presence that will sustain my leadership long into the future. It helped me cultivate a more compassionate leadership stance, deepen my connection to community and purpose, and return to my work with a renewed sense of resilience, focus, and possibility."

"The Desert Rain Workshop was just as its title suggests…refreshing. It was wonderful to reenergize with companions luchando for la justicia social. The activities ranged from physical motion, to meditative practice, to art creation. The activities helped me to recognize that reflection on and action toward self-care is paramount in protecting against burn out."
